The World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Championship is a professional wrestling championship in World Wrestling Entertainment world. Is the title of WWE's original world. Today is one of the two major championships with the SmackDown World Heavyweight Championship.
History
The WWE Championship was Originally known as the World Wide Wrestling Federation (WWWF) World Heavyweight Championship. After presenting the title in 1963, Buddy Rogers became the first Champion on 29 April. The World Wide Wrestling Federation joined the National Wrestling Alliance in 1971 and changed its name to World Wrestling Federation in 1979. During this time, the title refers to as the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) Heavyweight Championship. He became known as the WWF World Heavyweight Championship when the promotion left of the NWA in 1983. The title began to be cited as the WWF Championship in 1998.
In March 2001, the World Wrestling Federation bought World Championship Wrestling. Shortly after "The Invasion" took place in the WCW / ECW Alliance was ultimately dismantled. After that, it was agreed to unify the title WCW Championship at Vengeance 2001. In the event Chris Jericho defeated The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin won the WCW / World Championship and the WWF Championship respectively. As a result, Chris Jericho was named the ultimate champion of the world of the WCW and became the first undisputed champion in the World Wrestling Federation.
Following WWF / WWE name change and brand extension WWE Undisputed Championship was defended on the Raw and SmackDown, at the same time, while other titles became exclusive to any brand. However, when Brock Lesnar won the Undisputed Championship he was signed by the General Manager of SmackDown, Stephanie McMahon, to appear and defend the only title in the SmackDown brand, who left the Raw brand without a world title. As a result, General Manager of RAW, Eric Bischoff, disputed the title of "Undisputed" the situation and introduced the World Heavyweight Championship, commissioning it the main world title on the RAW brand. Immediately thereafter, Undisputed Championship was again the WWE championship.
The title remained on the SmackDown brand of August 26, 2002 until June 6, 2005 as a result of the Lottery of the WWE Draft 2005. The WWE Champion, John Cena, was drafted to the Raw brand with the WWE Championship, which left the two major titles in the WWE World that mark to the World Heavyweight Champion, Batista, was drafted to SmackDown with the World Heavyweight Championship June 30, 2005. The title was briefly owned of the ECW brand when Rob Van Dam cashed your money in the Bank contract at ECW One Night Stand pay-per-view on June 11, 2006 and defeated the defending champion Cena (Van Dam was drafted to the ECW brand then again two weeks earlier). Edge won the title back to Raw three weeks later after defeating RVD and John Cena in a Triple Threat to 03 July in Raw. The title returned to the SmackDown brand when champion Triple H was taken in 2008 of the WWE Draft. This makes the WWE Championship the first of three titles (several times) have been characteristic of the three WWE brands, followed by the ECW Championship and World Tag Championships.
